Innovation has NO age barrier…

When most of us think about innovation or people who are innovative, what are the words and images that come to mind? Einstein, Edison, Franklin, Jobs, Watson, Drucker, and others?  If so, you aren’t alone…I came up with the same kind of list.

But as we embark on discovering simple innovative ideas that lead to change through Simplivative and our own efforts, I am discovering that innovation is hiding in every nook and cranny of our business and in your business.  It is everywhere.  It is in our newest recruit all the way to our 30 year employee.  I was never more reminded of this than when I watched the video, Caines Arcade .

Caines Arcade has two messages – both about innovation.  As you watch the video, you will see how innovative Caine was in how he created his Arcade – amazing to say the least.  But you will also see a different kind of innovation which brought the Arcade to life – I won’t spoil the ending for you but just watch how this all came together.  I do have to warn you that this is about a 10 minute video and you will want to watch it all in one sitting.  So if you don’t have time now, please come back when you do – it will be worth the time.

It was a great reminder that we have lots of innovative people in the walls of our own business.  Being able to find them, empower them with the freedom to innovate, and reward it as part of our culture is not an easy task – but necessary.  I would love to know what you thought of Caine’s Arcade and any other thoughts or experiences you have in how we can pull these kind of innovative ideas from our own people.  Again, the more we can share, the better we all get – and faster!

  1. What an inspirational story! I can’t help but think how that experience enriched Caine’s life. It would be great to catch up to him in a few years and see what other amazing things he has done.

Thanks for commenting – completely agree, it would be great to track Caine and see how this changes or shapes his life. One thing for certain, it will never be the same after an experience like this one.

What is also underlying this that I also think is truly great is how one person stood up and said this has to be “shared” and more people’s lives need to be touched and impacted by seeing how someone like Caine can truly make something happen in his own world. I give big kudos to the guy who had the guts to stand up and make the flashmob happen and really change not only Caine’s life but probably millions (3 million views) because of his one act. We can all learn from the actions of this guy…
